How to drill the Hidden Triplet

Hidden Triplets are genuinely uncommon, and the honest reason to practise them is not frequency but discipline: they are the clearest test of whether you are counting digit homes or just reading cells.

Three digits that can only be placed among the same three cells form the pattern, and every other candidate in those three cells can go. As with the hidden pair, the cells involved are usually busy, so nothing about their appearance suggests the pattern. It has to be found by asking, digit by digit, where each one can still live in the unit.

In practice a fair number of Hidden Triplets are reducible — deal with the singles, omissions and pairs first and the position often simplifies before the triplet is needed.
